. You know the feeling: you’ve been going for what feels like a week straight with projects or tests or crises, and all you want to do is have a good night’s sleep. When you get that wonderful, full night’s sleep, suddenly all is right with the world again.
It’s not a given that all sleep that you get is great sleep. If you don’t get enough REM (Rapid Eve Movement) sleep, that can lead to major sleep problems.
If I know that I have to get up extra early in the morning and I’ve set the alarm on my phone, I’ll find that I wake up much more often during the night than I usually do because I’m so highly aware that at some point my alarm will go off. It’s as if my body would prefer not to be woken out of a deep sleep so it only allows me the lightest sleep possible.

Everyone has their own ways to perfect their sleep — eye masks, white noise machines, and room thermostat’s set to the exact right temperature. I usually need a fan on (except in the dead of winter) so that the room is cool, and because of the low hum of the fan, the noise is blocked out.
People need at least eight hours of sleep but there are some people who get by on much less and say that it’s enough for them. But is it really?
More and more, it’s advised that one should. That means no phone scrolling, no TV watching, no video games, no internet surfing, and no computer which seems practically impossible. What if you need to read before going to bed and you read from a tablet or a Kindle?
Whether you live for sleeping or if you only do it because it’s a necessity, sleep is a large influence on our personalities and the quality of our lives. Here’s how much sleep you need, based on your.

You secretly consider sleeping a waste of time. So many hours in a day are wasted sleeping when you could be out doing fun things. Your schedule is full with work, working out, creative projects, and having fun. You could do so much more if you could get by on 90 minutes of sleep.

You think you need a medium amount of sleep. You often stay up too late reading, texting to a friend, or sharing things on social media. You get so engrossed in what you’re doing that you don’t even notice the time. You mean to get all the sleep you need but that doesn’t always happen. You do love talking about what you dreamed the night before and doing your own dream analysis.
CANCER (June 21 – July 22)
You believe you need a ton of sleep to help you deal with all the emotional upheaval you’re always going through. You hope that your ex will be in your dream and that you can revise what actually went wrong between the two of you. You need sleep to reset your emotions and to feel like you have better control over your feelings.
LEO (July 23 – August 22)
You know that you need a lot of sleep but you’re a very busy person so you supplement your sleep with a lot of naps. You might have a disco nap if you had a night of partying planned or a catch-up nap if you didn’t get enough sleep the night before. You know that you can never really catch up on sleep but that doesn’t mean you can’t try.
VIRGO (August 23 – September 22)
You know that for good health, you need good sleep and you take your sleep very seriously. If the mattress is too soft or too hard, you’ll be upset for a week. You’ve done sleep studies and found exactly what you need to sleep really well, but sometimes you can’t get to sleep because you’re worrying too much. You tend to worry about everything and anything and it keeps you up at night. If only you could completely free your mind when you go to bed, that would be great, but unfortunately, it’s those times when your mind seems to be the most active.
LIBRA (September 23 – October 22)
It’s difficult to say how much sleep you need per night because you’re very inconsistent regarding sleep. One day, you might stay up most of the night watching YouTube videos and the next you’re in bed by 10 PM. You prefer the peaceful, nearly dreamless kind of sleep where you can fully relax and you don’t have to think about anything. If you can’t sleep and try counting sheep, that will just keep you up because it engages your mind too much.
SCORPIO (October 23 – November 21)
You know that you need to sleep but you never make it a priority. You get the best kind of sleep when you’ve exhausted your body by working out a bit too strenuously

Sleep is yet another thing you have to make sure that you do every day. It’s a responsibility. You know you need at least 8 hours and to make sure that you get that, you do a pre-sleep decompression by meditating, taking your magnesium, and doing a few non-taxing stretches.
AQUARIUS (January 20 – February 18)
You need a lot of sleep — that includes at least 8 hours plus naps on the weekend. You get up with the sun and consider sleeping in when you sleep until 6 AM, but you do get a lot done in a day. If you don’t get enough Zzzs you can be as grouchy as a bear.
PISCES (February 19 – March 20)
Sleep is a definite priority of yours and you make sure to get as much as you can; however, you’re at your most creative at night. So, you tend to stay up very late and then sleep all day. You may not get enough of the REM sleep that you need, but you almost like how that feeling of not being thoroughly rested knocks down your defenses and helps you get to the heart of what you want to say in your art.
